All About Bricks Awards 2015

As adopted by many of the larger LEGO websites, it’s time for a list of awards that do not give out trophies or certificates. Some might even say that it’s just an excuse to remember things that have happened in the past year of bricky goodness. Yes, that’s exactly what this is.

Especially re-named for one year only, it’s time for the Awesome All About Bricks Awards (taking alliteration to unnecessary lengths, and not guaranteeing awesomeness).  There are the usual awards and some fun ones, so let’s round out 2014 with a bit of reflection on the year in LEGO.

LEGO Police to Stake out the Swamps

LEGO have some fun with the Police sub-theme of City. Collectors have grown tired since the 2005 City re-launch (it’s nearly ten years, yikes) of the same old Police sets being released year after year, but LEGO find that Police are the best-selling City sets. What to do? Get the Police out of the City, and into the… swamps!?

UK Toy Fair 2014 Report

From January 21st to January 23rd 2014 the annual UK Toy Fair took place at the Olympia in London. LEGO were there to unveil the second half of the 2014 range, including regular themes such as City, Star Wars and Minifigures along with new themes such as Mixels and Ultra Agents. Despite an irregular schedule over the past couple of months, a third batch of completely meaningless awards is here to finish off 2013 at All About Bricks. Find out which are the best themes and sets of 2013 as a way to reminisce about the last year in LEGO. The Profit Keeps Coming for LEGO

LEGO have released their Annual Report, which shows that in 2012 the company sold nearly three times as much product as in 2007. The numbers, once again, are impressive and it is great news for LEGO.  Product lines singled out as success stories are Star Wars, City, Ninjago and Friends.

UK Toy Fair 2013 Report

Gender Equality improves in LEGO City

Since the staple line was re-branded LEGO City, fans will know that just a few years ago the title of this article would have been ridiculous. When the men folk of LEGO City were heading off for fun in their red peak caps, having changed out of their Police or Fire uniform, there were no wives to go home to or single women to take on a date. Thankfully, the Forest Police and Miners now share their world with members of the opposite sex.

Star Wars Days at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Report
